HYROX in Seattle
One HYROX class a week, every Saturday morning at Persistence Athletics in Belltown. Coached station-by-station with running blocks. Members included. Drop-ins welcome.
Saturday HYROX class - what you show up to
We run one dedicated HYROX class a week: Saturday 9:30 to 11:00 AM. 90 minutes of coached running blocks plus the 8 HYROX stations, programmed exactly the way the sport demands. It is the only HYROX-specific session at Persistence right now, so it stays high-quality and well-attended.
The class is included for active members. If you are not a member, you can drop in for that Saturday session - book online or walk in. No long-term commitment required to try HYROX-style training.
Persistence Athletics is a full strength, CrossFit, and HYROX gym, not a pop-up or a once-a-month event. The Saturday class is the HYROX-specific session, and the racks, rowers, SkiErgs, treadmills, and competition sled you need to train for the rest are on the floor every day of the week.
What HYROX is
HYROX is its own sport. 1 km run x 8, with eight functional stations between each kilometer. Generalist training will not get you there - you need running economy under fatigue, sled positioning, sandbag pacing, and the specific aerobic capacity that HYROX taxes.
Our Saturday class works each station individually, then layers them into race-pace sequences. Pacing is coached. Rest periods are calibrated. Running blocks happen on the treadmill at race-specific intensity.

Building HYROX capacity through the rest of the week
One Saturday HYROX class will not get you to a race. How the Saturday HYROX class is structured is the HYROX-specific session - the place you practice the format, the pacing, and the race-day rhythm. The strength + conditioning that supports HYROX (hinge, squat, pull, posterior chain, aerobic Z2 base) lives in our regular CrossFit / strength classes Monday through Friday.
Athletes targeting a HYROX race usually combine: 3-4 strength + conditioning sessions during the week (group classes or personal training), 1-2 self-led aerobic runs or rows, and the Saturday HYROX class as the practice / capacity session. We can write the week for you if you want - just talk to a coach.
Who shows up to the Saturday class
Three groups: runners who can already cover 8 km but get crushed by the stations and want to learn pacing; CrossFitters who own the strength piece and need running economy plus sled efficiency; and total HYROX first-timers who picked a race three months out and need a structured path from zero to finish line.
All three groups train side-by-side because the workouts scale - same structure, different paces, different loads. Most of our HYROX athletes are based in Belltown, SLU, downtown Seattle, and the Eastside (we see Bellevue and Kirkland commuters regularly).
Pacing is the differentiator
Most HYROX DNFs and bad finishes come from pacing, not from fitness. Athletes blow up the first run and pay for it for the next 50 minutes. Or they save too much for the back half and finish with energy left over (which means they could have gone faster).
Our coaches spend disproportionate time on this. We teach you what your goal-pace 1 km should feel like in HR, breath, and perceived effort. We teach you how to throttle the sled push and the burpee broad jump so they do not torch your legs before the SkiErg. By race day, you have rehearsed the exact rhythm enough times that pacing is automatic.
Equipment we have on the floor
- * SkiErg (multiple)
- * Concept2 rowers (multiple)
- * Treadmills for race-pace running blocks
- * Competition-spec sled and turf for sled push/pull practice
- * Sandbags in all standard race weights
- * Wall ball targets at race-spec heights
- * Olympic platforms, racks, full DB / KB / barbell selection for the strength side
HYROX Seattle FAQs
When is the HYROX class?
Saturdays only, 9:30 to 11:00 AM. It is the dedicated HYROX session for the week.
Can I drop in for the Saturday class?
Yes. No membership required - just book a drop-in online or walk in. Drop-in price is on the pricing page.
Do I need CrossFit experience?
No. The class scales - we take runners, CrossFitters, and total HYROX first-timers in the same session.
What if I want to train HYROX more than once a week?
Use the rest of the week to build the capacity HYROX demands - strength sessions Mon through Fri, plus self-led running or rowing. The Saturday class is the HYROX-specific work; the rest is the base.
When are the next HYROX races on the West Coast?
The HYROX calendar updates regularly, so we do not post fixed dates here. See "Is there a HYROX race in Seattle?" below, then talk to a coach about which West Coast race fits your timeline.
Is there a HYROX race in Seattle?
HYROX runs its official races as a touring series, and the nearest events for Seattle athletes are usually the West Coast stops. Our Saturday class is where you train for whichever race you pick - we run full station-by-station simulations at race spec so the format is familiar before you toe the line. Talk to a coach about which upcoming race fits your timeline.
