    Personal training FAQs

What is the difference between 1-on-1 and semi-private personal training?

1-on-1 personal training is one coach working with you alone, so you get 100 percent of the coach's attention and fully individualized programming. Semi-private is one coach working with 2 to 4 athletes at the same time, each running their own program written for them, while the coach circulates between you. Semi-private gets you most of the coaching attention (form correction, real-time cueing, programming) at a lower per-person cost, with the trade-off that the coach splits their eyes across the small group. It works best for friends, couples, or members at a similar fitness level with aligned goals.

How much does personal training cost at Persistence Athletics?

A single 60-minute personal training session is $95. Our 5-session package is $450, which works out to $90 per session. Our 10-session package is $850, which works out to $85 per session. There are no contracts and no pressure, and you use your sessions at your own pace. See our pricing page for current rates.

How often should I see a personal trainer?

It depends on your goal. For maintenance, form check-ins, and accountability, 1x per week is plenty, especially if you supplement with group classes. For active strength progression, 2x per week is the sweet spot. For intensive transformation such as post-injury return, sport prep, or postpartum return, 3x per week is appropriate. Most members front-load 2 to 3 sessions per week for the first 8 to 12 weeks to build the foundation, then taper to 1x per week once their patterns are clean and they can self-coach the basics.

    Who is personal training for?

Personal training is the right fit when you have a specific goal or issue: a chronic injury, a plateau that needs targeted work, a sport prep cycle, postpartum return, severe gym anxiety where privacy is the entry point, or a highly technical goal like learning Olympic lifting from scratch. If your goal is general fitness and you are self-motivated, group classes at a lower cost are often the better starting point. Many members start with a free first class, and we recommend PT, group classes, or a hybrid based on your goals, schedule, and budget.

What credentials do your personal training coaches have?

Our owners and head coaches, Ravi Dewangan and Jacque Dewangan, are both CrossFit Level 3 (CFL3). Ravi also holds an MS in Strength and Conditioning and is on the CrossFit Seminar Staff; Jacque also holds Precision Nutrition Level 2 (PNL2), which is who our nutrition coaching routes through. Our coaching crew also includes AJ, Aannesha, Muthu, and Brayan. We publish every coach's credentials publicly on our coaches page because members are paying for coaching and have a right to know exactly what training and certifications their coach holds.

Do I have to commit to a long package before I start?

No. Personal training at Persistence has no contracts, and you use your sessions at your own pace. We recommend most members start with a free first class so we can run a movement screen and talk through your goals, then begin with a smaller block such as a 5 or 10 session package to test the fit before committing to anything larger.
